Zach Goodwin

ZACH GOODWIN is the writer and director of THE REPLICA, a short film about an unemployed man in Brooklyn who becomes convinced his girlfriend has been replaced by a stranger — and about the company that would gladly sell him a subscription to the replacement. It began the way most of his work begins: with a single image he couldn't shake. A digital picture frame, too small for the wall it hangs on, dead center on all that white. Less like decor than an altar.

Zach is also co-founder and chief creative officer of THIS JANUARY, a 25-person creative agency and production company in Washington, DC, where he has spent eleven years directing national commercials and campaigns for brands including Nike, American Airlines and Lufthansa. He comes at filmmaking the way a designer comes at a page — preoccupied to the point of obsession with exact visual expression, with where the eye lands, what the frame excludes, how long a cut is allowed to breathe.
